Deck Built Around a Tree
Cutting down a healthy mature tree to fit a deck is a waste nobody enjoys. Instead, this deck was framed around the trunk with a generous opening that gives the tree room to move in the wind and keeps its canopy shading the space below.
The tree well is lined and drained so moisture never pools against the trunk or the decking. It is a small custom touch that makes the deck feel like it grew out of the yard rather than landing on it.
